KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has objected to the appointment of Nepali Congress MP Ramhari Khatiwada as Chair of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee.

In a letter to Speaker Devraj Ghimire, the RSP said ethical standards were ignored, recalling Khatiwada had resigned earlier as head of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee after being found guilty of violating the “cooling-off period” rule.

The party warned that entrusting a controversial figure with such a key role undermines Parliament’s dignity and democratic values.

Khatiwada was unanimously elected to the post on Friday.
