KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) boycotted the parliamentary session on Tuesday, demanding the formation of a parliamentary investigation committee into the visit visa scandal.
Both parties rejected the committee led by former Chief Secretary Shankardas Bairagi, which was formed to investigate the allegations involving Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.
At the beginning of the session, RSP MP Sobita Gautam and RPP Chief Whip Gyanendra Shahi stated their parties’ positions and announced the boycott.
Earlier, on Monday, RSP had staged a protest by surrounding the parliament, while RPP had boycotted the session.
Since May 27, both parties have been consistently demanding a parliamentary probe into the visit visa scandal and have called for the resignation of Home Minister Lekhak.
