KATHMANDU: Lawmakers from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) continued boycotting the House of Representatives meeting on Thursday, demanding a high-level investigation committee into the visit visa controversy.

As Thursday’s session began, RSP and RPP lawmakers stood in protest, saying their demands had not been addressed.

Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire allowed RSP lawmaker Ashok Chaudhary to speak, who stated the movement would continue until the government responded.

Chaudhary also criticized the trend of imprisoning those who speak out against irregularities. RPP lawmaker Dhawal Shumsher Rana demanded that PM KP Sharma Oli clarify reports of Nepal joining China’s Global Security Initiative (GSI) and warned that discouraging private education in Nepal would be a wrong move.

Both parties have been consistently obstructing parliamentary proceedings, pressing for the formation of a high-level probe panel on the visit visa issue.
