KATHMANDU: In a press release issued after its recently concluded Central Committee meeting, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Acting Spokesperson Manish Jha stated that the party respects the Supreme Court’s legal authority but considers its latest order on party president Rabi Lamichhane to be incomplete and unjust.
Jha criticized the court’s handling of the habeas corpus petition and accused it of shifting the burden of proof onto the defendant in violation of legal norms. He said the ruling disregarded established judicial precedents and undermined public faith in the rule of law.
The RSP condemned what it called the government’s selective prosecution and double standards in cooperative fraud cases, terming the actions against Lamichhane as “political retaliation.”
Jha also reiterated the party’s demand for the Home Minister’s resignation over alleged involvement in visit visa-related human trafficking and said the RSP parliamentary team has been directed to push for accountability in the House.
