KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has concluded the hearing on a 14-year-old writ petition filed against former Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota.
A verdict from the Constitutional Bench could be issued as early as today, according to court officials.
The petition, filed by Purnimaya Lama, seeks an investigation into Sapkota’s alleged involvement in the 2005 abduction and murder of her husband, Arjun Lama, during the Maoist insurgency. She has named several Maoist leaders in the case.
Despite reaching the final stage under former Chief Justices Cholendra Shumsher Rana and Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, the case was repeatedly postponed.
The final hearing was conducted by a bench led by Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut.
