KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has issued an order halting the removal of five provincial assembly members (MPs) in Madhes Province.

A single bench of Justice Nityananda Pandey instructed Speaker Ram Chandra Mandal not to proceed with the immediate removal of the legislators. Speaker Mandal had dismissed four MPs from the JSP and one from the Nagrik Unmukti Party on November 13.

The removed MPs, including Manish Kumar Suman, Sanjay Kumar Yadav, Singhasan Sah Kalwar, and Sarada Shankar Sah Kalwar (JSP), and Urmila Singh (Nagrik Unmukti Party), had filed a writ petition challenging the Speaker’s decision.
