KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has scheduled a preliminary hearing on the petition filed by Dr. Mukul Dhakal, who is challenging his removal from the post of General Secretary of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

The case has been listed for hearing in the single bench of Justice Kumar Regmi. Dhakal has approached the court with a request to maintain his official status as General Secretary. He has also sought permission to continue carrying out his duties in that capacity within the party.

The RSP had recently expelled Dhakal from both the General Secretary position and the party’s central committee. Responding to that move, Dhakal claims he has made two key demands before the court.

“The party has nominated Kabindra Burlakoti as General Secretary and decided to appoint Manish Jha as spokesperson,” he said. “But the Election Commission still officially recognizes me as the General Secretary and spokesperson. Therefore, I’ve petitioned the court to keep that record unchanged.”
