KATHMANDU: Senior Advocate Dinesh Tripathi on Monday demanded the arrest of former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, then-Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, security chiefs and chief district officers for their role in the violent suppression of Gen-Z protests.

Speaking at a program organized by Reporters Club Nepal, Tripathi urged authorities to take immediate legal action against all officials involved in the crackdown, which he described as “barbaric and intolerable.” He also called for their passports to be revoked to prevent them from fleeing abroad.

“The Gen-Z movement was born out of pure motives — for democracy, against corruption and for good governance,” he said. “On the 8th September, they were brutally suppressed. No condemnation is enough. Everyone from the prime minister to security chiefs must be arrested.”

Tripathi argued that the current government’s legitimacy rests on the movement and warned that elections must be held to avoid national disaster. He further demanded the confiscation of political leaders’ assets, claiming seized wealth could build “five Singha Durbar palaces.”
