KATHMANDU: Senior Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala held discussions with lawmakers from his faction on Sunday afternoon at Yak and Yeti Hotel in Durbar Marg, Kathmandu, amid increasing political realignments.

The meeting followed an earlier session the same morning and focused on internal party matters and contemporary political issues.

This gathering came shortly after Koirala met with former President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Friday and Maoist Centre Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Thursday to discuss political developments.

Lawmakers close to Koirala said the purpose was to deliberate on ongoing national and internal political affairs.

The talks took place against the backdrop of emerging political polarization that threatened to unsettle the existing coalition between CPN-UML Chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba.

The potential realignment had also been a topic of discussion during the UML’s politburo meeting on Saturday, highlighting growing tensions within the ruling alliance.
