KATHMANDU: Six parliamentary committees under the Federal Parliament are scheduled to meet today at Singha Durbar, with sessions taking place between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The committees include the Finance Committee; State Affairs and Good Governance Committee; Infrastructure Development Committee; Legislative Management Committee; Public Policy and Delegated Legislation Committee; and the Federalism Strengthening and National Concerns Committee.
The Finance Committee will discuss a petition from the Nepal Ayurveda Medicine Manufacturers Association concerning the proposed value-added tax (VAT) on Ayurvedic medicines under the Finance Bill. It will also deliberate on other tax-related provisions and proposed tax rates included in the bill.
The State Affairs and Good Governance Committee will hold an initial discussion on a bill to amend the Nepal Police Act. Meanwhile, the Federalism Strengthening and National Concerns Committee plans to review its recent on-site monitoring work and finalize a draft report based on the findings.
The Public Accounts Committee will evaluate its recent field observation program conducted in Dolakha and various parts of Bagmati Province. Similarly, the Infrastructure Development Committee is set to examine the progress of the Sunkoshi-Marin Diversion Project.
The Legislative Management Committee will discuss the Customs Bill, 2080, focusing on its principles and framework.
