KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said slowed response to youths’ aspiration left them in disappointment.

Youths’ aspiration and needs deserve proper and timely address for creative solution, she said, adding that the vibrant section of population should be prevented from sliding to deviation. For this, State must address their demands, she underlined.

PM Karki said it while receiving the report of Youth Council at her office, Singha Durbar on Friday.

As the Chairman of the Youth Council, Minister for Youths and Sports, Bablu Gupta, submitted the Council’s report before the PM amidst a function.

“The youths seem disenchanted. Why did the protest occur on September 8 and 9? Youths have such strength that country can benefit for development if State creates proper environment,” Karki reminded, warning that the deviation can lead to revolt.

It is State’s responsibility to direct youths toward constructive and creative way. Sports and social services are areas where youths can be engaged. “The Youth Minister is bright and has involved in social service as well. He is bringing some positive schemes for youth mobilization,” the PM added.

The Youth Policy launched recently has defined people aged 18 to 35 as youths. This group has 12.4 million people, 30 percent of the total population in Nepal.

The PM further reminded that the Youth Council and Youth Ministry are the responsible authorities to organize, mobilize and direct this huge section of population.
