KATHMANDU: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has expressed dissatisfaction over the repeated postponements of parliamentary sessions aimed at reaching a consensus among political parties, stating that these efforts have so far failed to yield results.
This morning, Speaker Ghimire met with the chief whips of the three main political parties to address the ongoing deadlock in the federal parliament, expressing his dissatisfaction over the situation.
He stressed the need to respect constitutional limits and adopt a practical approach to parliamentary proceedings.
The meeting at Singha Durbar included Nepali Congress chief whip Shyamkumar Ghimire, CPN-UML chief whip Mahesh Bartaula, and Maoist Centre chief whip Hitaraj Pandey.
The parliamentary obstruction has delayed the commencement of budget discussions, causing concern about the legislative process.
Maoist Centre chief whip Pandey informed that the party’s position would be shared after a meeting called by party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal in Baneshwor today.
Meanwhile, the ruling parties, UML and Congress, reiterated their refusal to accept the opposition’s demand for the resignation of the Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and the formation of an inquiry committee.
