KATHMANDU: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has called the political parties that were represented in the recently dissolved House of Representatives for crucial discussions.

According to the Speaker’s Secretariat, the meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. at his office in Singha Durbar.

The primary agenda is to gather the parties’ official positions on the controversial dissolution of the House and to explore possible constitutional steps ahead.

Speaker Ghimire’s press advisor, Shekhar Adhikari, said the Speaker aims to understand whether the parties favor taking the issue to the Supreme Court by filing a petition demanding the restoration of Parliament or prefer a political resolution.

Political parties have been instructed to attend the discussion with their official viewpoints, reflecting their respective central committees’ decisions.

Following the talks with political parties, Speaker Ghimire is also preparing to consult with former attorney generals, senior officials of the Nepal Bar Association, and the Supreme Court Bar Association to gather expert legal opinions on the constitutional and procedural aspects of the dissolution.

The discussion is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the next political and legal course regarding the status of the dissolved House of Representatives.
