KATHMANDU:  Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, has begun discussions to reopen the obstructed House session.

On Friday, he called a meeting with chief whips and whips of the parties represented in the Federal Parliament’s House of Representatives to initiate the dialogue.

According to the Speaker’s private secretariat, after holding talks with chief whips and whips at 11 AM, Speaker Ghimire has scheduled a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee at 12 PM.

Speaker Ghimire has taken this initiative after opposition parties obstructed the House, demanding the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak over the visit visa controversy.

Although the parties had agreed to allow the budget speech, they signaled that protests would continue afterward, prompting the Speaker to take steps to resolve the impasse.
