KATHMANDU: Speaker of the House, Dev Raj Ghimire, and National Assembly Chair, Narayan Dahal, expressed deep sorrow over the property damage and loss of life during the Gen-Z protests on September 7 and 8.
In a joint statement on Friday, they paid tribute to deceased youths, wished speedy recovery to the injured, and urged proper medical care.
The statement condemned vandalism and arson at the Parliament, Singha Durbar offices, public property, and historical documents, calling the incidents a serious blow to democratic values and institutional structures.
Ghimire and Dahal stressed that the country’s sovereignty, civil liberties, territorial integrity, national unity, and independence must be upheld, and solutions sought strictly through constitutional processes.
They appealed to all parties to address demands peacefully within the Constitution, strengthening democracy, and supporting the President’s initiatives to resolve the crisis without violating the rule of law.
