KATHMANDU: Speaker Devraj Ghimire held separate discussions with Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Acting President DP Aryal and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden over the ongoing obstruction in Parliament.

On Sunday morning, Speaker Ghimire met Aryal in his office at the Parliament Building in New Baneshwar, urging him to help maintain parliamentary decorum.

Citing constitutional limitations and the urgent need to begin discussions on the budget, Ghimire requested a change in the form of the protest.

In response, Aryal said the obstruction would continue but reiterated his party’s commitment to upholding parliamentary dignity.

Chief whips had also drawn the Speaker’s attention earlier that morning to inappropriate conduct observed during Friday’s obstructed session.

Separately, Speaker Ghimire urged RPP Chairman Lingden over a phone call to help lift the obstruction. He asked for cooperation in creating an environment for normal proceedings by raising issues through proper parliamentary channels.
