KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress leaders addressing the special general convention (SGC) have reminded the establishment faction led by party president Sher Bahadur Deuba that the SGC was in line with the cadres’ aspiration and party statute.
Various leaders who were once the ardent supporters of President Deuba also attended the SGC and advocated for change in party’s working style.
Gopal Man Shrestha stressed that the country was at a crossroads at present, so all sides require a common standing for national interest.
Shrestha said it while addressing the SGC called by the faction favoring the SGC under the leadership of General Secretaries duo Gagan Thapa and Bishwo Prakash Sharma at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu on Sunday. “The party must run as per statute, none should grip party in his/her obduracy,” Shrestha said, claiming that the SGC was held as per party statute.
Time has come for party leadership taken up by the young generation in view of national politics.
The inaugural session which is running under the chairmanship of Kathmandu NC President Sabuj Baniya was addressed by the leaders Amar Singh Pun, Shukraj Sharma, Tirtha Lama, Chatur Bahdur Chand and Jitendra Shrestha. They made it clear that the SGC was held in line with the national politics evolved after Gen Z movement and party’s changed context.
