KATHMANDU: Coordinator of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said the comprehensive peace accord (CPA) has played significant role in promulgating democratic republic constitution featuring federalism, inclusion and secularism.
Extending best wishes on the 19th anniversary of signing of CPA between the government and the then rebellion side (CPN Maoist), coordinator Dahal argued that the spirit and sentiment of armed conflict and CPA would remain incomplete until issues like social justice, good governance, economic equality and prosperity are fulfilled.
He expressed respect for all who contributed to this process as living signatories as well as made special remembrance and respect towards one main signatories of CPA, the then Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala.
“I express commitment that the recently formed Nepali Communist Party will be committed to fulfill the remaining task by taking its political ownership and responsibility in CPA,” reads a statement issued by Coordinator Dahal.
Stating that the main spirit of the CPA is to establish equitable, corruption-free and inclusive republic, he mentioned that now the Gen Zs have been raising voices with this values and spirit.
“The aspiration of youths can be addressed only if governance system, operation of government and constitution would be amended as per the spirit of CPA,” reads the statement.
The former Prime Minister Dahal appealed for collective efforts of all sides to resolve problems surfaced in the present Nepali Society by carrying out serious review of the past.
Coordinator Dahal extended tribute to all martyrs who sacrificed their lives for justice, equality and freedom, extending high respect towards disappeared persons, injured ones, disabled persons and their families.
The CPA was signed between the government and rebellion side on November 21, 2006 to end armed conflict launched by the then CPN (Maoist).
