KATHMANDU: ‘Hami Nepal’ founder Sudan Gurung has strongly objected to attempts to link his campaign with foreign powers and the Free Tibet movement, calling it a deliberate move to tarnish his reputation.

After a photo went viral on social media showing some Gen Z protesters wearing black T-shirts with the letters “TOB”, Gurung issued a statement on Facebook, claiming that an “organized cyber group” was spreading misinformation in a planned manner.

“Enough is enough,” Gurung wrote. “The tendency to pull others down has never disappeared from our society. Now the cyber army has started its game again in a new form.”

The viral photo led some to interpret “TOB” as “Tibetan Origin Brotherhood” and associate it with the Free Tibet campaign.

Gurung, however, completely denied those claims, clarifying that no foreign powers, INGOs, or political groups were involved in his initiative.

According to Gurung, ‘Hami Nepal’ is not an NGO but a non-profit organization (NPO) that prioritizes in-kind contributions over monetary ones.

“We didn’t like the NGO model, so we chose to operate as an NPO,” he explained.
