A single bench led by Justice Nripadhwaj Niraula issued a show-cause notice to the government after the preliminary hearing of the writ petition filed on this matter, requesting a written reply.
The petition was filed by advocate Dr. Premraj Silwal on October 29.
The writ petition sought interim relief to annul illegal actions, orders, and letters against UML Chairman and former Prime Minister Oli and former Home Minister Lekhak, to protect their constitutional and legal rights. However, no interim order was issued.
Following the investigation into the events of September 8 and 9, the Gen Z probe commission had recommended freezing the passports of five individuals, including former Prime Minister Oli and former Home Minister Lekhak.
Based on this recommendation, the government decided to impose travel restrictions and freeze their passports.
The commission recommended freezing the passports of former Prime Minister Oli, former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, then Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadi, former Director General of the National Investigation Department Hutaraj Thapa, and then Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, Chhabi Rijal.
