KATHMANDU: CPN (UML) leader Umashankar Aragaria has left the party.

On Sunday, he announced his resignation from the UML by sending a letter to Party Chairman KP Sharma Oli.

Aragaria expressed deep dissatisfaction, stating that despite it being a long time since he joined the UML, the integration process for his supporters had still not been finalized.

In his letter, he wrote, “Regarding the matter mentioned above, even though it has been several years since we joined the CPN (UML), the integration of the friends who came with me has not taken place to this day, leaving them without any committee roles. Instead of purifying the organization, I have witnessed a tradition within the party where those who repeatedly defeat official party candidates are rewarded rather than punished.”

He further complained that despite repeatedly bringing these issues to the attention of the central leadership, no initiative was taken.

“I am exhausted by a culture where one is repeatedly insulted by district leadership, where diligent and honest workers are neglected, and those working against the party are honored,” he stated.

“Since no initiatives were taken despite repeatedly informing the center about all these matters, I have resigned today, terminating even my ordinary membership of this party,” he added.
