KATHMANDU: Communist Party of Nepal (UML)-affiliated National Youth Association Nepal has objected to the government’s decision to block the passport of UML Chair KP Sharma Oli and others.

On Tuesday, Association Chair Kshitiz Thebe issued a statement warning that if the passports were blocked without evidence and based on prejudice or revenge, it would be unacceptable.

The statement said, “Our organization expresses objection to the government’s decision to block the passport of former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and others. The ‘Inquiry Commission 2025’ on the Gen Z incident has recommended the passport suspension purely on suspicion and prejudice, without basis or evidence.”

“We are ready for investigation, but making a decision that declares someone guilty without even starting the probe is objectionable,” the statement added.

The Youth Association also opposed the government’s decision to file a case against UML Politburo member Mahesh Basnet in what it called a vengeful manner.

On Sunday, the judicial commission formed to investigate the suppression of the Gen Z protests had recommended the government bar five people, including outgoing Prime Minister Oli, from foreign travel.
