KATHMANDU: The ruling CPN-UML has called a meeting of its parliamentary party today at 1 PM in the Lhotse Hall of the Federal Parliament building.

The meeting will focus on discussions regarding the national budget for the fiscal year 2025/26, which was presented by Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel on May 29 during a joint session of both Houses.

The meeting comes at a time when the Federal Parliament is headed toward a potential deadlock.

The opposition parties have announced they will obstruct parliamentary proceedings scheduled to begin Tuesday, June 3, unless Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak resigns.

He is under fire for his alleged involvement in the controversial visit visa scam at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

With budget deliberations looming, the political standoff threatens to derail critical legislative discussions.

The ruling party is expected to strategize ways to counter the opposition’s disruption and ensure budget proceedings go ahead as planned.
