KATHMANDU: CPN (UML) Chairperson and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Wednesday held a virtual meeting with district chairpersons of the party across the country.

During the meeting, Oli said that discussions about leadership change at the current political juncture were inappropriate and clarified that the decision of the Central Committee would be final on any such matter.

The UML district leaders noted that while the Gen Z movement was positive in spirit, it had been infiltrated by external and internal elements, causing loss of life and property across the nation.

They stressed that although the protesters’ demands were legitimate, the movement had been influenced by various forces and needed a serious review to prevent further instability.

Oli was reported to have made it clear that he would respect the Central Committee’s final decision on leadership matters.

He also expressed his readiness to relinquish leadership if the situation demanded but emphasized that any decision would be taken only after fully understanding the circumstances.

He urged district leaders to move forward with a clear understanding of the current situation and to help maintain unity and discipline within the party.
