JHAPA: As the House of Representatives election approaches, the name of KP Sharma Oli, the Chairperson of the CPN (UML) and former Prime Minister, has been unanimously recommended to contest the election from Jhapa Constituency No. 5.

Prem Giri, the district chair of the party, announced that the regional committee meeting held today has fully supported Chairperson Oli’s nomination. Jhapa-5 is known as Oli’s home constituency, where he has successfully won parliamentary elections in 1991, 1994, 1999, 2013, 2017, and 2022.

However, he did experience a setback in the first Constituent Assembly election in 2003 B.S., but he was later elected from the same constituency in the second Constituent Assembly election in 2007 B.S.

Additionally, three candidates from Jhapa Constituency No. 4 have been suggested for the upcoming House of Representatives election set for March 5.

Lal Bahadur Sawa Limbu, Hira Thapa, and Bhojakumari Nepal have been nominated by the party’s district chair Giri, who confirmed that these names were approved during today’s regional committee meeting.

Jhapa consists of five constituencies. He also mentioned that candidate names for Jhapa Constituencies No. 1, 2, and 3 are expected to be announced by Sunday.

The party has reportedly issued a directive requiring that three names, including at least one woman, be proposed from each constituency.
