KATHMANDU: A report presented at the CPN-UML’s second statute convention in Lalitpur stated that there is no alternative to Chairman KP Sharma Oli in the party’s future leadership.

According to Rajendra Gautam, head of the UML’s Publicity and Publication Department and Standing Committee member, party leaders in group discussions concluded that Oli remains the only viable leader.

He claimed that some media outlets had circulated false information regarding the leaders’ statements during the third day’s group discussions. He also alleged that misleading reports had been spread about key statute amendment topics, such as age limits and term limits.

“Leaders from seven geographic and three non-geographic groups have already submitted their reports to the closed session, incorporating issues raised in discussions. All ten groups suggested that the party statute should include provisions preventing individuals who have already served as President, Vice-President, or received constitutional appointments from returning to the party,” Gautam said.

According to Gautam, Sudurpaschim Province Committee Chair Krishna Prasad Jaishi, Karnali Province Chair Gulab Jung Shah, Lumbini Province Chair Radha Krishna Kandel, Gandaki Province Vice-Chair Min Prasad Gurung, Bagmati Province Chair Kailash Dhungel, Madhes Province Chair Chandreshwar Mandal, Koshi Province Chair Ghanshyam Khatiwada, and non-geographic representatives Shiva Adhikari, Chudamani Jangali, and Bhakta Gurung all submitted their respective reports.
