KATHMANDU:The Secretariat meeting of the CPN (UML) has resumed after being postponed on Saturday due to party chair KP Sharma Oli’s ill health.
According to party sources, today’s meeting began earlier today with deputy general secretaries and secretaries scheduled to present their views.
During Friday’s session, UML Vice-Chair Ashtalakshmi Shakya had formally submitted a written demand calling for Oli’s resignation.
Likewise, nine other office bearers also argued that the party should begin searching for Oli’s replacement and prioritize holding the next general convention.
Party insiders said that several leaders are expected to take a tough stance on Oli’s leadership again in today’s meeting.
According to a member of the UML Secretariat, the ongoing meeting is likely to intensify internal pressure to announce the party’s next general convention.
