KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML will formally open its second Statute Convention today (Friday) at Sunrise Hall, Godavari, Lalitpur, with delegates arriving from across the country.

A 10-kilometer stretch from Satdobato to Godavari has been lined with party banners, posters, and welcome arches. A reception gate stands at the main entrance to greet participants.

Central Office Secretary Dr. Bhishma Raj Adhikari announced the official slogan: “Building a decisive national power is our resolution; a prosperous Nepal, a happy Nepali—our national destination.”

The convention hall, with 2,840 seats and four entry gates, will enforce tight security. PM KP Sharma Oli will enter through the first gate, while other top leaders, ministers, and chief ministers will use the second and third.

Those entering public gates will be greeted by a full-length portrait of Chairman Oli alongside the official convention logo. Six ID-scanning booths have been set up for delegates and observers.

Inside, a 2,200-square-foot digital screen has been installed, along with a media center featuring live art performances. ID verification will be mandatory at several points.

On stage, Chairman Oli will take the front seat, with 17 senior leaders seated behind him according to party protocol.

The inauguration program will include festive music, a martyrs’ memorial tune, the national anthem, and the international communist song. Selected live performances will also accompany the opening.
