KATHMANDU: The ongoing central committee meeting of the CPN (Unified Socialist) will continue on Thursday as well.

The meeting, which began on Wednesday, saw party chair Madhav Kumar Nepal present his political report on the opening day.

In his report, Chairman Nepal emphasized that while communist unity remains necessary in the current context, such unification is not possible without a clear ideological and organizational foundation.

He warned that party unity without consensus in ideology, policy, and conduct would remain merely superficial.

The meeting, scheduled to run until Friday, is expected to make a formal decision regarding possible unification with the CPN (Maoist Centre).

Party establishment leaders, including Chair Nepal, are preparing to endorse the merger proposal.

However, senior leader Jhala Nath Khanal and General Secretary Ghanashyam Bhusal’s faction are reportedly opposed to the plan.
