KATHMANDU: The counting of votes for the UML Dhanusha convention election, held on Wednesday evening, is ongoing at the Mahendra Narayan Mithila Cultural Building. The counting, which began on Wednesday night, has so far tallied 156 votes as of 8 a.m. Thursday.

Bhola Yadav, representing the group led by UML Central Secretary Raghubir Mahaseth, is in the lead with 91 votes. He is followed by Laxminarayan Yadav, aligned with the group of UML central member Umashankar Aragadiya, who has garnered 63 votes. A total of 615 out of 628 registered voters cast their votes in the convention.

The election process faced initial disruption on 22 Baisakh when voting was halted due to a scuffle between the two groups. Following directives from the central leadership, the voting was rescheduled and conducted on 7 Jestha.

As the counting progresses, the results are expected to play a crucial role in shaping the district’s leadership under the NCP-UML.
