KATHMANDU: The National Youth Association Nepal, affiliated with the CPN (UML), has filed a complaint at the Cyber Bureau against Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah.

The complaint was registered on Thursday by the union’s Vice-Chair, Maharaj Gurung.

According to the complaint, Mayor Sah allegedly used his personal Facebook account, ‘Balen,’ to post offensive remarks targeting foreign countries, political parties, and public officials, thereby disturbing public peace and social harmony.

The complaint claims that certain words in Shah’s posts were objectionable and that he spread messages undermining social cohesion.

Screenshots of the posts were submitted as evidence.

The complaint cites violations related to public peace, defamation, and cybercrime.

Gurung stated that derogatory remarks by a public official against foreign nations and political entities could affect the country’s social relations and reputation.

The union has demanded strict action, including investigation and arrest, as well as the freezing of Shah’s passport to prevent evidence tampering.

The complaint also included screenshots of the Facebook posts, published news articles, and other media content as proof.
