JUMLA: Nepal Telecomm has expanded telephone towers in the outlying parts of the Karnali Province with the aim of boosting telephone network in the rural areas and reaching communication services in the remote regions.

Head of the Nepal Telecom branch office in Jumla, Paras Pujara, informed that total 86 towers have been expanded in Jumla, Kalikot and Mugu, under the jurisdiction of the Nepal Telecom branch office in Jumla. Accordingly, 22 towers have been expanded in Kalikot, 19 in Mugu and 45 in Jumla.

“A Nepal Telecom tower has been constructed and is now operational in Hima Rural Municipality of Jumla. The local residents there had been deprived of telephone services for a long time due to the absence of a telephone tower,” Pujara said.

Hima Rural Municipality Chairman Laxman Bahadur Shahi stated that the tower construction was completed from Monday, and telephone and 4G internet services have started operating.

Telecom’s fibre internet service has currently been expanded only in the district headquarters, Khalanga. The Telecom branch office has stated that work is underway to expand it to all eight local levels in the district.

According to Nepal Telecom’s Karnali Provincial Directorate in Surkhet, communication services have been extended to 37 local units in Karnali so far.
