Minister bats for postal service agreement with countries inking labour pact with Nepal

KATHMANDU: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has stressed the need to establish postal service agreement with all countries to which Nepal has signed the labour pact.

Speaking at an annual progress review meeting of the Department of Postal Services held today, the Minister highlighted the potential for commercializing postal services through parcel delivery. He underscored the need for expanding these services to benefit Nepalis living abroad and stressed the need to make parcel delivery more reliable and efficient.

Directing all local governments to switch to digitalization, Minister Gurung directed them to transition to ‘smart post offices’ through the maximum utilization of information technology as per the need of time.

Also the Spokesperson of the government, Minister Gurung shared that he was always ready to provide support for the construction of other required infrastructures as well as other supports needed in order to make postal service effective.

Similarly, Secretary at the Communications Ministry, Radhika Aryal, opined that acts and laws are being revised to make postal service timely, adding she was always ready to remove administrative and managerial obstacles in the postal service.

Likewise, Director General of the Department, Mana Maya Bhattarai, argued that they have been working to make postal service smart.
