KATHMANDU: The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has directed internet service providers to immediately block access to the Telegram app.

In a notice issued on Friday, the authority stated that the app has increasingly been used for online fraud and money laundering activities, prompting the need for urgent action.

According to NTA, the decision was made due to the growing involvement of Telegram in serious cybercrimes and financial offenses.
