KATHMANDU: Inspector General of Nepal Police, Dan Bahadur Karki, has said the abuse of social media has added challenges to security.
During his address to a programme organized to mark the 70th establishment of the Crime Investigation Department here today, the new police chief stressed with the growing abuse of social networking sites, need of up-skilling training is imperative for investigation into drugs abuse and drugs peddling, crypto currency, online gaming, scamming, suicide, financial crime, transnational offences of complex nature and organised crime.
He directed the police force to prioritise implementing court decisions, searching for and arresting the absconded defendants and delivering prompt and substantive results.
Karki added that impartial, results-oriented and scientific investigation would help State bring the offenders under the purview of law, serving justice to the survivors and victims. Responsible acts of police help to earn the public trust and social prestige, according to him.
