KATHMANDU: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chandrakuber Khapung has pledged that those involved in criminal activities under the guise of the Gen Z movement will face legal action.

Speaking at a program in Kathmandu, Khapung said that while the protests have raised various issues, some individuals have also resorted to unlawful acts, which the police are determined to address.

He urged the public to remain confident that such offenders will be punished. “The police must act against any element that disrupts social order. We cannot allow criminal behavior in the name of protests,” IGP Khapung said, emphasizing that the police would take necessary measures to maintain law and order.

Rejecting claims that police morale had declined following the Gen Z movement, he stated, “There is no reason for police morale to drop.

The public has high expectations from the police, though we may not always be able to meet them fully. But it’s our duty to say ‘no’ when needed and stop any form of criminal activity.”
