BHAKTAPUR: The District Police Office, Bhaktapur, has announced a strict security plan targeting major festivals including Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath.

Quick Response Teams (QRT) have been mobilized to ensure safety during the festive season.

According to DSP Dhundhiraj Regmi, separate police teams have been deployed in main markets, intersections, sensitive areas, temples, banks, and financial institutions.

He said that police teams have been instructed to reach the scene of any reported incident within 10 minutes.

Police have formed specialized units to prevent crimes such as theft, robbery, pickpocketing, fraud through social media, illegal sale and consumption of alcohol, brawls, drug-related crimes, abduction, extortion, human trafficking, gambling, and other offenses that may rise during public gatherings at markets, public transport, residences, commercial areas, banks, jewelry shops, and financial institutions.

Considering the growing security challenges, DSP Regmi said awareness programs are being conducted 24/7 at the community level to assure public safety.

He added that the police have maximized the use of available manpower and resources for patrolling, ambushing, checkpoints, pickets, and surprise inspections to establish a reliable and effective security system.

The police have also urged the public to immediately report any suspicious activity in their homes, neighborhoods, or localities.

Citizens can call the police hotlines 100 and 103 or contact Bhaktapur Police Office at 01-6614708, 9851283020, and 9851290976.
