TAPLEJUNG: The Taplejung District Administration Office has enforced a prohibitory order following rising tensions over the Kathmandu-Pathibhara cable car project.

Chief District Officer Netra Prasad Sharma announced the order at midnight on Saturday.

The order will apply to the Taplejung district headquarters, Phungling Bazaar, and the Kaflepati and Baludanda areas of Pathibhara, starting from 5 a.m. on Sunday until further notice.

This measure comes after violent clashes on Saturday evening between supporters and opponents of the cable car project, leaving dozens of locals injured.

The prohibitory order was issued under Section 6 (3)(a) of the Local Administration Act, 2028, in response to the worsening situation.
