KATHMANDU: A one-day capacity-building workshop was held in Kathmandu with representatives from eight commercial banks interested in developing an Energy Efficiency Loan product.
The event was organized by the Nepal Bankers’ Association with support from GIZ under the REEEP-GREEN project framework.
REEEP-GREEN is a technical cooperation project being implemented under the agreement between the Government of Nepal (GoN), the Federal Republic of Germany and the European Union.
Currently, the project is providing conditional grants to industries to implement energy efficiency measures.
Building on these experiences, a draft loan product has been developed to support investments by industries in energy-efficient measures, which participating banks could offer.
The event provided a valuable platform to explore how banks can support industries in adopting energy-efficient and cost-saving measures.
Banks gathered insightful feedback during the workshop, which will help refine the framework into a practical and effective financial product for scaling up green investments in Nepal.
