PALPA: With the aim of promoting religious tourism, Rampur Municipality has constructed a pedestrian path on the banks of Kaligandaki.

Mayor Raman Bahadur Thapa informed that 2,567 meters of pedestrian walkways were constructed in the fiscal year 2081/082. Mayor Thapa said that the construction of a 34-kilometer-long pedestrian walkway from Ram Nadi Dham to Dev Ghat has been started in Rampur Municipality to highlight its religious, cultural and environmental importance.

“Work is underway to pave the road and install interlocking stones. This will contribute to local tourism and the economy by enhancing the natural beauty of the riverbank and facilitating access to religious sites,” said Mayor Thapa.

In the fiscal year 2081/082, the work of placing two-meter wide interlocking stones at various places on this route has been completed. 557 meters in Keladi in Ward No. 3, 191 meters in Jyagdi Park in Ward No. 6, 432 meters of interlocking in Tilakpur, 195 meters of interlocking in Sundar Fun Park, 678 meters of stone paving and 210 meters of interlocking in Bhujat area in Ward No. 8, 114 meters of stone paving in Shalikram Park in Ward No. 10, and 190 meters of interlocking and stone paving in Narmeshwar Temple have been completed.

Similarly, waiting rooms have been constructed in Bhanghat and Tatopanighat wards. This project is being implemented in coordination with the federal government and Rampur Municipality.

Locals believe that the construction of a footpath will help promote religious tourism in this area, as the Kaligandaki River, which has religious significance, is connected to Ramnadi Dham, Keladi Dham, Ramghat Dham, Ridi Dham, and Devghat.
