RUPANDEHI:In a shocking incident in Rupandehi, an ex-husband murdered his former wife and their two daughters.

The crime occurred on Wednesday morning after the woman, who had divorced him and remarried, visited his home.

According to Rupandehi District Police Chief SP Pradeep Bahadur Kshetri, the victims have been identified as 33-year-old Deepa Basyal, her 7-year-old daughter Sneha Basyal, and her 4-year-old daughter Himani Basyal.

The murders took place at around 4 AM in Maitripath, Ward No. 11 of Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City, where the ex-husband was residing.

He allegedly attacked Deepa and the two children with a knife and a hammer, said SP Kshetri. However, the police were only informed of the incident at around 7 AM.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Deepa had gone to her former husband Sujan Koirala’s residence with her two daughters, but the motive behind her visit remains unclear.

“We are still investigating why she went there,” SP Kshetri said. “Currently, the crime scene has been secured and preparations are underway to conduct an inquest of the bodies.”

Police have arrested Sujan Koirala and launched an investigation into the triple homicide.
