KATHMANDU: A clash broke out in Lampata of Himali Rural Municipality-3, Bajura, after a border dispute between Bajura and Humla districts escalated over police post construction and boundary demarcation.

The confrontation began on Tuesday after residents of Thali in Humla protested against the disputed boundary, leading to a clash with Bajura locals.

Five people, including a police officer, were injured. Among them are Ward Member Pema Gara Gurung, his wife Laxmi Gurung, Assistant Head Constable Mahesh Dhami, Minu Kunwar and Chief Administrative Officer Kul Bahadur Thapa.

Tensions further escalated after a team led by Dhangadhi Mayor Gopal Hamal reached the area and attempted to film the scene using a drone.

The Sudurpashchim provincial government has allocated Rs 4 million for a police post in the disputed area, but locals from Thali have opposed the construction, claiming the land as their traditional territory.
