KATHMANDU: The Government of India has clarified reports regarding Nepali citizen Shambhavi Adhikari, who was denied transit through Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) on her way to Germany.

Indian authorities emphasized that they played no role in the decision. The passenger arrived from Kathmandu and was transiting through Delhi on Air India flight. The airline, citing visa validity and destination country requirements, chose not to allow onward travel and returned her to Kathmandu.

Officials noted that international transit passengers are not required to approach Indian immigration, and this matter was entirely between the airline and the passenger. India reaffirmed its commitment to strong ties with Nepal and stressed that there is no bias or discrimination against Nepali citizens by any Indian authority.
