RAUTAHAT: Two teenagers lost their lives after being struck by lightning in Rautahat district on Saturday evening.

According to the District Police Office, the incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. in Kathariya Municipality-2, Hathiyahi.

The victims have been identified as 17-year-old Seraj Laheri, grandson of Isu Miya Laheri, and 16-year-old Nabeen Yadav, grandson of Panilal Yadav.

Police spokesperson DSP Raju Karki said Seraj died instantly at the scene, while Nabeen succumbed to injuries while being taken to hospital.

Nabeen’s body was severely burned after being struck by lightning near a culvert close to Hathiyahi Basic School.

Both bodies have been taken to Chandranigahapur Primary Health Center for postmortem examination, police confirmed.
