KATHMANDU: Sarita Pun, a member of the Lumbini Province Assembly, passed away during treatment in Kathmandu.

Pun was originally from Taksera in Rukum East.

She died on Saturday at the Manamohan Cardiothorasic and Vascular Center under Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, Kathmandu.

She had been brought to Kathmandu about a month ago due to health complications.

During her hospital stay, she underwent two major surgeries at the same time. In the first operation, she gave birth to her daughter, and in the second, an artificial valve was implanted in her heart.

Assembly member Pun was elected through the proportional representation system from the CPN-UML.

She also served as a member of the Lumbini Province Assembly’s Committee on Finance, Tourism, and Development.
