KATHMANDU: One person died in a fatal incident in Kapilvastu District’s Bijayanagar Rural Municipality-1, Newalaganj, when a mound of soil collapsed.

The incident took place around 11 a.m. on Sunday while workers were digging the foundation for a cable bridge under construction in Newalaganj.

Two workers were trapped under the debris and were rushed to Shivaraj Basic Hospital for treatment.

According to hospital sources, 30-year-old Keshav Thapa, a local resident, succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, 48-year-old Sarjulal Chaudhary sustained serious injuries and was sent to Butwal for further treatment, as confirmed by Mohanmani Adhikari, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the Kapilvastu District Police Office.

The police have initiated further investigation into the incident.
