JHAPA: One person died after a Scorpio SUV belonging to the Division Forest Office, Bhadrapur, collided with a City Safari (electric three-wheeler) in Mechinagar, Jhapa.

According to Ranjan Awale, Deputy Superintendent of Police and Information Officer at the District Police Office, the accident occurred this morning along an inner road section at Kalika in Mechinagar-15. The City Safari (Pra 1-01-002 Ha 7805) heading toward Bhadrapur from Kakarbhitta collided with the oncoming Scorpio (Bagmati Province Pra 01-002 Jha 7360) belonging to the Division Forest Office, Jhapa.

A female passenger on the City Safari lost her life in the crash. The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Aarti Oraon, a resident of Mechinagar-15.

Oraon, who sustained serious injuries in the accident, was rushed to the Provincial Hospital in Bhadrapur for treatment. However, doctors declared her dead upon arrival, DSP Awale informed.

Following the incident, police took both drivers into custody—the Scorpio driver, 54-year-old Leela Shrestha of Bhadrapur Municipality-10, and the City Safari driver, 45-year-old Gambhir Prasad Batar of Mechinagar-6. Further investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
