NUWAKOT: A woman has gone missing after being swept away by a flooded stream in Kakani Rural Municipality-1, Nuwakot, following continuous rainfall.
According to Armed Police Force (APF) Deputy Superintendent and spokesperson Shailendra Thapa, 32-year-old Kamala Balami was reported missing after the water level in the stream suddenly rose due to relentless rain. An APF team has been deployed for the search operation.
In the same area, three animal sheds were swept away, injuring Ashok Balami, who was rescued and sent to Kathmandu for treatment. Upon receiving information about the incident, 65 personnel from APF’s UN Training School Kakani, No. 19 Battalion Nuwakot, and Banchare Security Base were mobilized for rescue operations. The flash flood also swept away livestock and other belongings.
Meanwhile, in Kaike Rural Municipality-4, Riwa, of Dolpa district, a landslide triggered by heavy rainfall completely destroyed 15 houses.
A rescue team from APF’s No. 46 Battalion in Dolpa has been deployed to the site. Three individuals sustained minor injuries in the landslide, and their condition is reported to be stable.
