KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel has emphasized that the presence of the sacred Pashupatinath Temple in Nepal is a significant source of pride for all Hindus.

In his Mahashivaratri message to Nepali citizens, President Paudel remarked, “Lord Shiva is honored in many Vedic texts. The presence of the holy Pashupati area in Nepal is a point of pride not just for Nepalis, but for Hindus around the world.”

The President wished peace, prosperity, and happiness to all Hindu Nepalis on this auspicious occasion.

He highlighted how Nepal’s diverse religious practices demonstrate continued devotion to Lord Shiva and pointed out that the country is a spiritual center for those who revere Pashupatinath and Kirateshwor Mahadev as forms of Lord Shiva.

Lord Shiva represents both the creative and destructive forces of nature, and the phrase “Satyam Shivam Sundaram” (Truth, God, and Beauty) reflects the essence of his nature.

President Paudel also noted that Mahashivaratri encourages living in harmony with nature and stressed the importance of preserving Nepal’s cultural and religious heritage, including the Pashupati area.

In conclusion, he wished that the festival inspires spiritual awakening among all.
