KATHMANDU: Rajendra Lingden, Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), has called for an immediate stop to the construction of the cable car project in the Pathibhara area.
Tensions in the region have been escalating daily, especially after the government used force against those opposing the cable car.
A violent clash occurred on Saturday night between police and locals in the district headquarters.
Sharing photos and videos of the incident on social media, Lingden appealed to the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Chandra Dhakal to halt the cable car project to prevent further division in the community.
“Prime Minister, Home Minister, Chandra Dhakal, what have you done? Taplejung has now become a battlefield. Have you not divided society, causing brothers to fight, kill, and be killed over this cable car project? Stop your decision immediately and prevent further conflict,” Lingden stated.
